This is a terrific album by Ruben Romero, but don’t let the title fool you. While the sounds are relaxed enough for a spa, this is actually a great album to put on when company comes over for dinner or drinks. While many of the songs embrace Flamenco or a Southwest feel, tracks like Fuerza and Bossa D’Amor have a distinctly Brazilian vibe to them.

My favorite song on the album is “Leyenda”, which could have easily found its way into the score of a Robert Rodriguez film. Overall, this is an excellent album from start to finish.

Amazon doesn’t make mention of this, but unfortunately Ruben Romero passed away in New Mexico back in 2007. He studied under some of Spain’s greatest guitarists, but the man had serious natural talent that went beyond what can be taught. This is a beautiful album, and a must-have for anyone who loves Spanish guitar.
