The 26-year-old was driving near his home in Woolton while being followed by a member of the press. According to reports, Torres stopped his black Aston Martin when he noticed a policeman in the area.
The photographer was subsequently asked to stop pursuing the footballer and no action was taken against him.
It had been suggested that Torres was stopped by the authorities after having been caught speeding, however the police have since clarified this was not the case.
The incident occurred on 2 August with speculation rife after a photograph of the incident emerged on the internet.
A police statement read: “Merseyside Police can confirm that a 26-year-old motorist from the Woolton area alerted a passing police patrol to concerns he had about the behaviour of a fellow driver, who he believed was following him.
“The officer took down the 26-year-old’s details and then spoke to the other motorist, who had also stopped. Both drivers then went on their way.”
Another Liverpool resident, actor Ricky Whittle, is currently in court answering a charge of dangerous driving after it was alleged he deliberately drove his car into a photographer who was trailing him.
“Among the many photographs of Dodge City locals is a picture of the town photographer herself. If you look closely, you can see she has oddly hung a bunch of her framed photographs from her dress for a pretty unique self-portrait.”

Demotix to distribute photos via Publish2’s news wire
Summer’s brought a growth spurt for Publish 2’s News Exchange. Last week, the cooperative distribution platform announced some big-gun content partners: ProPublica, GlobalPost, Texas Tribune, and Texas Watchdog. And today, it introduced another one: Demotix, the citizen-and-freelance-journalism-driven photography site.
We’re excited to announce that Demotix, the award-winning open photo agency for independent journalists, will begin offering content via Publish2 News Exchange when we launch photo support later this summer. Newspapers and other news organizations will not only benefit from the huge efficiency of sharing photos directly through Publish2 News Exchange, but they will now also benefit from the efficiency of Demotix’s open photo sourcing platform and their presence in the U.S. news market.
The upshot: “With the addition of Demotix to News Exchange, newspapers will also be able to buy photos a la carte for coverage of major news events around the U.S. and around the world.” And “for us at Demotix,” CEO Turi Munthe put it, “this opens a potentially very large segment of the US local market, and the thrill of partnering with a new news organisation that truly shares our beliefs and vision of the future.”
It’s a telling collaboration. Demotix (tagline: “The Street Wire”) lives at the intersection of professional and citizen journalism, offering a wire of user-generated images to mainstream outlets. Revenues are split by Demotix and its journalists: every time an image gets picked up from the Demotix wire, its creator gets a 50-percent share of the revenue. (Hence, another tagline: “News by You.”) And, so far, images captured by the community’s 3,200-plus active reporters (hailing from 190 countries) have appeared on some big-time front pages — The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, and Time magazine among them.
(For more background on Demotix, by the way, check out this fantastic overview of the platform, and of its impact on the image marketplace, from the spring issue of our sister publication Nieman Reports.)
The team-up has been in the works for several months, Publish2’s director of news innovation, Ryan Sholin, told me. It’s not only that “we’re totally open to and interested in partnering with anybody and everybody who wants to distribute content across our pipes”; it’s also that Demotix, with its freelanced-content-distribution approach, makes particular sense as a P2 partner. (That’s one reason why, as Sholin pointed out, the Demotix logo was featured on a slide at the News Exchange’s beta launch at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference back in May.)
“I personally think it’s really cool because they focus so heavily on freelancers and almost, really, citizen journalists,” Sholin says of Demotix. “The premise is: ‘You are an independent journalist walking around town, and you see something cool, and take a picture of it — and we will help you sell it to news organizations.’ That flows so cleanly into the vision of what News Exchange can be for freelancers and independent journalists that it was a very natural fit.”
And what Demotix gets from the deal is essentially amplification of its current distribution mechanism: “the opportunity,” Sholin says, “to take the work that’s running through their system and have a much better distribution channel — to go straight into newspapers’ print publishing systems, straight into their FTP folders — without having to do a whole browse-and-download sort of interface.”
The partnership will roll out later this summer, as part of Publish2’s broader expansion into image distribution. The collaborative’s upcoming photo-support platform will make it easier, Sholin says, “for anybody to share photos — for newspapers to share photos, for other content providers to sell photos in the system.” And “Demotix will be one of the content providers in the system at launch.”

Corsica is the most mountainous island of the Mediterranean due to the fact that it was created out of a series of huge volcanic eruptions. Picture dramatic cliffs falling into the ocean and rich green mountains rising over the horizon. For the most part Corsica is untouched compared to similar islands I've been to. Nearly half of the land is devoted to nature reserves so driving across the island you get the feeling that this is your own private place. On a road trip going nowhere in particular, James and I set off in our little rental car and hugged the tiny mountain roads, making stops at old abandoned stone farm houses and ice cold mountain waterfalls where we stripped down and swam. We basically saw no one else around most of the time, exactly what a couple on their honeymoon hopes for. When we weren't exploring the island by car, James and I stayed in a gorgeous northern coastal town called Ille Rousse. Within two days we felt completely at home there, roaming the winding cobble stone streets for new restaurants to try. We found the food was mostly a French-Italian mix of pastas, seafood and pizza, and we greedily devoured it all. Both James and I have always hated olives but, for some odd reason, we dared each other to try one in Corsica and we were instantly hooked! I don't know what it was about those olives, but they were amazing and when we came back to New York and tried an olive here, it just wasn't the same.
Corsica is very much your own experience. No one is going to hold your hand to guide you or to hold you back. In all the beaches we lounged on there were no signs posted “Do Not Swim Here” which was both very freeing and a little scary. I get rather nervous when I don't know what else is swimming around me so my snorkel helped me to assure myself that Jaws was not actually right underneath me. The ocean, by the way, was crystal clear and a gorgeous shade of turquoise. I truly loved Corsica, and that funny name will forever be associated with my beautiful honeymoon and first two weeks as a married woman.
We've said we are going back there for our 10-year anniversary.

We're sure there's a reason Lindsay Lohan threw on a ninja mask and flashed some underboob for a secret shoot for Marc Ecko, but it doesn't really matter … we got the pics, so check 'em out already!
OK, now to the facts — It was all part of Marc Ecko's secret “Muse” campaign directed by Markus Klinko and Indrani — a secret he's had to keep under wraps for several months … hence the mask.
TMZ has learned Lindsay posed for the shoot back in May — right around the time she was getting into trouble with Judge Marsha Revel.
We're told Marc chose Lindsay because he wanted someone “whom fascinated us — for better or worse.”
Well, mission accomplished.

Hivision which I filmed in a very popular video from IFA 2008: youtube.com have worked very hard to port Android to their latest ARM9 based 7″ mini Laptops. They offer an extremely impressive fast and Android integration, with a surprisingly fast Android web browser over WIFi and Ethernet. The price for the laptop at retail could be 9, more or less, it depends on the distributors.
I purchased an iBook for college, being an Apple user since 2006. I've tried PCs on the side, but programming on a Mac is top-notch and really professional with XCode. This isn't even mentioning usage and speed! My new iBook runs like a charm! I can run Windows(R) XP (in an emulator, of course), Safari, iTunes, and several other apps at the same time, with plenty of speed left. Try that on a PC!
I think this notebook is really the Apple version of a netbook–only WITH a CD drive. It's still about as small and light even with the CD drive.
Plus, it came with all the aethestics looking great, as well as the hardware. It's about 1 to 2/10 cheaper than a MacBook as well, so if you don't want to buy a MacBook, then get an iBook!
However, new PC users need to check out Mac Help from the Help menu, then click “New to OS X?” and then click “Windows switchers” to get started. The trackpad tends to be more sensitive on here, so make sure your hands are clean before use. Just to let you know.
Finally, if you like gaming or need a big screen, the iBook is not what you'd be looking at–in that case, look more at a MacBook Pro. But if you want a computer that 'just works', get an iBook.
Specifications: These laptops are two of my favorite model of the laptop for the past year. The Apple MacBook MC207LL / A is an optional 13.3-inch laptops-full, while the Asus UL30A-X5 is a stylish ultra-thin model. Both models have a very strong selling points and I would certainly be a very difficult time if I had a choice to buy one. The model Apple has a 2.26 GHz processor, 2 GB of DDR3 RAM and 250GB of storage. The Asus modelOn the other hand has a 1.3GHz processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM and 500 GB of memory. Although the laptop Apple has a stronger processor and enough RAM for the Asus model makes storage more for her. If you do not have a lot of heavy processing tasks on a laptop (such as running heavy applications), specifications on the Asus machine that would prove more than sufficient.
Design: The Apple MacBook MC207LL / A is a full-size laptops,a weight of 4.7 kg. The Asus UL30A-X5 is only 0.98 cm thick and is much more portable at only 3.74 pounds. Apple's MacBook sports a white shell uni-body exterior made of polycarbonate, while the UL30A X5 has a beautiful case in brushed metal. There is no doubt that the model Asus is the aesthetic of the machine more portable, but in the form of the two models are among the most stylish notebooks on the market.
Product performance: Given theRAM on Asus UL30A-X5 is designed for multitasking seriously. The average user will find this model more than sufficient for the execution of tasks processing daily. The Apple MacBook MC207LL / A is more suitable for the treatment of moderate to severe PC tasks. The DVD drive also come in handy (not in model Asus). The battery MC207LL / A to seven hours on a single charge, while the battery last on UL30A-X5 can last up to an impressive 12 hours on a bin laden.In general, both models prove to be excellent, laptops have 13.3-inch, depending on personal preferences and needs calculation. Currently, the Apple MacBook MC207LL / A, the price is about $ 954 each, while Asus UL30A X5 is trading at about $ 691.

Fantastic computer
First, please note that I’m reviewing the actual computer and not any vendor nor the manufacturer’s customer service.
Thinkpads, generally in my experience have by far the best laptop keyboards I’ve used. This is my fifth (at least) Thinkpad and my second X series (previous was X60). I have found them all to be remarkably reliable with excellent ergonomics. I especially love small touches, like the little mouse in the center of the keyboard (looks like a pencil eraser). Thinkpad seems to have the only truly effective implementation compared to other I’ve tried such as Toshiba. Also 3 USB ports. Nice. VERY lightweight, speedy enough. I LIKE that they did not put a cd/dvd drive in this unit. I’d rather use external given how infrequently I need it. X200 has built-in camera – I still have not figured out how to turn it off – so careful with your attire while surfing Facebook y’all!
So I am thrilled with this unit, loved my X60 for the 2+ years that I had it, and the T series before that. These things seem designed for “road warriors” like me.
Also be sure to get the small travelers A/C adaptor that Lenovo sells for these. I think I paid $35 for mine. Nice.
Love These Machines!
These Thinkpads are the Best They have the look and Feel of High Quality!
I have a SL410 but Amazon no longer sells it, so writing this here.
Bought a Toshiba laptop weeks ago then returned it. It was OK but it looked and felt cheap with the very high gloss surface had to constantly wipe it down. The thinkpads have a matte finish, much better.
Also the Toshiba Laptop had these annoying popup windows that would appear reminding me to upgrade and buy software.
The touch pad is great very accurate, also much better then my toshiba.
Only had mine a few a couple weeks and am impressed overall.
I’ve been a electronics tech for 20 years and a IT degree, I can say these are made very well. The connectors and interface are well designed. Just wish mine was a little lighter the 410 is about 5lbs.
X200 Amazing!!
I have the x200 with extended life battery and 2.4 ghz processor widows 7. This is an amzing little machine. It’s built like a tank, and the battery life is incredible. I get about 10 hours!! IBM/Lenovo has been building workhorses for business use for years. They know what they are doing.

The dell studio XPS 16 is said to be one of the best laptop models that has recently hit the consumer market. And once it did it took the market by storm, and kept its competitors wary because of the new benchmark it had created for them. Gone are the days when laptops were just a big metal block that was heavy and was not portable. Also the features were all substandard and you really did not have any choice except for a few configuration specs.
With the dell studio XPS 16 laptop you are sure to make a style statement as well as carry along an air of elegance no matter where you go. The laptop is extremely portable and carried anywhere and everywhere. You can now access and enjoy its varied features no matter where you are. Its sturdy build also ensures that it can resist the wear and tear of everyday life. With your dell laptop you can now enjoy a brilliantly wonderful multimedia experience as well as make use of its robust connectivity features so that you can keep in touch with friends, family and as well as the online community. Its integrated speakers are of premium quality along with an integrated subwoofer and output that are Dolby Digital.
You can easily hook up your dell studio XPS 16 laptop to your HDTV for a brilliant hi-def movie experience. The widescreen is of 1080p which lets you view a varied array of vibrant colors without any ghosting or blurring. You can also choose to use the Blu-ray disk player which is available if you ask for it. You can even enjoy fast paced action movies and fast moving games because of the laptops integrated 8ms response time that makes every quick motion picture crisp along with clear resolution.
The keyboard on the dell XPS 16 laptop is easy to type on because of its touch pad keys that make long hours of typing on the keyboard easy and stress free for your fingers and your hands. Another feature of the keyboard is the white LED backlight keys that work excellently when you want to type in the dark or in dim lights. The HDMI slot makes it possible for entertainment lovers to enjoy quality digital audio and video output. The ports that are included in this version of the laptop are the three USB ports which include the eSATA port, USB combo, FireWire, two headphone jacks for dual listening pleasure, media card reader, microphone jack for voice recording or speaking to someone over the internet, ExpressCard slot, as well as the Ethernet port that makes it possible for easy broadband connectivity.
The personal protection feature for preventing theft of stored data etc on your laptop is now possible because of the integration of the facial recognition software that shuts off automatically when you walk away from the computer and turns back on when you return.

Like the laptop so far.
Definetly worth the pricePros

Amazon's shipping is very impressive.I received the product in 15 hrs.
— Very nice so far
When Acer teams up with AMD's Turion II Ultra processor the laptop that is produced can't be beat for the price. The laptop is fast with 4 GB RAM,the HD is large(500GB)and although this particular model with 15.6 inch screen and full keypad with numerics might be a little heavier than some other models it is still light enough to carry around without a problem. Having wirelss built in has been wonderful. It seems more reliable than wired and has been without problems. I never had that before and now I see why more and more people are turning to wireless.
I have only had this laptop for a few weeks now and have been running all sorts of games on it with no problems whatsoever…. Not “shoot 'em up” games but games like Myst, Dream Chronicles, Mahjong Deminsions Deluxe, and hidden object games. The thing could run more demanding games but I am not interested in those.
If you are on a tight budget for a laptop, the Acer AS5542-5547 is the way to go…reliable, well built and reasonably priced especially through Amazon.Acer AS5542-5547 15.6-Inch Laptop (Blue) — Can't beat Acer + AMD
I am quite happy with how the computer functions. It works great for my Guild Wars. I really do not have any problems with it, except it being a PC and needing all these programs to help the registry issues and watching for viruses and spyware, but I have AVG installed and that seems to be working well. — Satisfired
Pros:
* Big screen
* 4G of RAM
* fast dual core processor
* good speakers
* looks nice
* light
* quiet fan, stays pretty coolCons:
* Sometimes the power cord pops out a little without you noticing, so it starts running on battery power
* Weird screen resolution of 1366×768, doesn't play nice with mupen64plus at full screen resolutions
* No ExpressCard slot. On my last laptop (an HP tx1000z) the onboard wireless stopped working after about a year, so having an ExpressCard slot was invaluable. I figured a laptop this size would have one, but I didn't read the specs closely enough.Depends:
* Has a full size keyboard, but I actually prefer smaller keyboards since they make it easier to type with one hand while using a mouse with the otherAfter I got it I booted Windows to make sure everything worked, then I installed Ubuntu 10.04 64bit. Everything works pretty good (though I haven't tried to use the webcam), the only problem is the wireless (ath9) drivers which causes the connection to stop working or disconnect randomly. — Pretty good laptop
Enjoy cinematic brilliance on the Acer Aspire AS7551-2531 that come with 17.3-inch CineCrystal display with native 720p (1600 x 900 resolution), a fast response time and a 16:9 aspect ratio, which provides a perfect for viewing content created for the widescreen and ATI Radeon HD 4250 graphics delivering crystal-clear images, brilliant color. The two built-in Acer 3DSonic stereo speakers produce vividly realistic audio, and you can connect to home theater receiver for 5.1-channel surround sound with the audio line-out jack with S/PDIF support. Plus, you be able to connect to your HDTV via the HDMI port.
The Acer Aspire AS7551-2531 is powered by a dual-core AMD Turion II processor and the ATI Radeon HD 4250 graphics processor for a superior digital entertainment experience. It also includes the fastest DDR3 RAM, ultra-fast Wireless-N Wi-Fi networking, a Multi-Gesture Touchpad allows you to pinch, flick and swirl your fingers across the touchpad, an integrated webcam.

Talk about seeing double! Billy Ray Cyrus is no longer the only Hollywood hottie who’s keeping it business in the front, party in the back. Scottish hunk Gerard Butler made us look twice when we spotted him rocking a Cyrus-worthy mullet of his own while filming his new thriller Machine Gun Preacher in Michigan. Snapped on Monday sporting the new do, the actor completed the biker-appropriate look with a vest and Harley-Davidson T-shirt, while Billy Ray accessorized his current back-swept coif with a sleeveless T-shirt, shades and a long necklace. Though we’re used to the look on Miley‘s dad — who can forget his mega-mullet in the “Achy Breaky Heart” era? — we have to admit we’re a little startled seeing ladies-man Gerard’s signature cropped hair and touch of scruff replaced by this new look. Tell us: Who rocks his mullet better: Billy Ray or Gerard?
