free style![]()
an uplifting coming of age film with a multi racial cast that should appeal to all age groups.. i was particularly impressed with the three stars and would single out sandra echeverria.sandra played the “love interest” with an intelligence and energy that was superlative. while not a particular fan of motorcyle racing the film was fast moving and charascter driven.. madison pettis was adorable as usual and corbin bleu showed why he is a teenage heart throb.
this is a film that should appeal to all family members..
New Role for Bleu![]()
Corbin’s new movie, Free Style is a fantastic movie for fans who want to see Bleu in a role different from his usual Disney roles. In this movie, you really get a feel for how he is in a movie “indie” film setting and I for one enjoyed it! It a movie with a great moral that is perfect for family viewing or just for a fan of his who wants to see a new kind of work. A definite must have for any collection! Free Style delivers!
Great, Uplifting, Teen Movie Starring Corbin Bleu![]()
Freestyle is a movie about motorcross racing but more importantly it is a movie about a young man, who is the man of the family. He works two jobs and has a dream to win the one spot on the Grand National motocross racing team.
In A Nutshell: This is an uplifting story about Cale (Corbin) who works hard to help his family taking on two jobs after his father left the family. His dream is to race with the pros and after losing his bike due to a little youthful drama (jealousy), he manages to build his dream bike, fall in love, and through shear willpower and courage beats all odds to come out on top.
What I Liked: Corbin is cute, likable and believable. Madison and Corbin are the perfect siblings, they even look alike. The storyline is sweet! After his mother is hurt, watching Corbin take care of his sister brought tears to my eyes.
Hearing that Freestyle was about Motor Crossing, didn’t make me want to watch it but knowing Corbin was in it, changed my mind. I am so glad I did because while it is about bikes, this is mostly about a young man, who against all odds is strong, smart, kind, loving and a survivor.
I LOVED IT!

Free Style asks the nonmusical question: Who needs Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, anyway? This is a starring vehicle for the other High School Musical dude, Corbin Bleu, who brings his likable-guy personality to a tale of small-town life and motocross racing. Bleu plays Cale Bryant, a fatherless teen in a drizzly Northwestern burg, a town so rich in motocross talent that three of the top contenders for an open spot on the national racing team just happen to be living there. Really? OK, it seems a bit unlikely, but that’s the kind of movie this is: all the formulaic parts are in place, including the struggling single mom (Penelope Ann Miller), the wayward girlfriend, and the foxy waitress (Sandra Echeverria) who works at the town’s Mexican restaurant. Can a reunion between Cale and his estranged father be far behind? Director William Dear (Harry and the Hendersons) is an experienced hand at this kind of familiar-but-sincere drama, and he smoothly guides the TV-level doings here. The motocross sequences are mud-spattered and not all that frequent, but they should be acceptable for X-treme fans. Since the storytelling is humdrum, the movie comes down to Corbin Bleu, and while the HSM faithful may be satisfied, others will have to admit that his single-note presence doesn’t offer a whole lot in the way of excitement–not when it’s featured at the center of a 90-minute movie, anyway. –Robert Horton
Video Description
From KIDS FIRST!: Winning the Amateur National Motocross Championship is Cale’s (Corbin Bleu)ticket out of town where he can have the opportunity to make something of himself. The reality of making this dream come true is tenuous at best as Cale has to deal with the curves life throws at him. Filled with twists and turns, the plot isn’t as straightforward or predictable as you might think. While you learn about motocross, the dangers and the thrills and the business itself, this film also deals with family relationships and dating relationships. Along with the message of clinging to dreams, there is also a strong message that sometimes the best way to make something of yourself is by dealing with the situations at hand in the place where you currently live. “Free Style” provides positive role models for interpersonal relationships and offers a positive and hopeful view of the future. It demonstrates the application of knowledge as it engages and entertains adults and children. KIDS FIRST! Child Juror Comments: It was exciting. The guy in yellow was a jerk. The main character’s friends were nice to each other. It was all the motocross stuff I knew. My favorite parts were watching him build the dirt bike and winning. I didn’t expect that chain to break. I like to have fun with the motocross racers, and I like to ride their bikes. The images were awesome – especially the jumps. The music was loud sometimes.
